Ericom Blaze for Linux

Posted by Stephan Bußjäger on November 9, 2009

Today I was surpised about Ericom Blaze again.

From the Sales Team there was an information about Ericom Blaze for Linux. So what I did was testing the new client for Linux systems. I took an Ubuntu 9.10 and started with the debian paket installer (GDebi) and installed the ericom-blaze-client_1.2-0.0_i386.deb:

GDebi installer

finishing installation

As you can see there were no errors while the installation process was running.

Ok now let’s start a session to a Blaze server:

first we have to excecute the Blaze client on my Ubuntu (Alt+F2 and just type blaze)

blazeclient

Now fill in the blaze server name or ip address, the credentials (same as in windows remote desktop application under MS Windows) and click Connect.

rdp

Ericom Blaze Client for Linux gives the impression of a real remote desktop session client that normally runs only under Windows systems (like mstsc). Now we can say that there is a real altenative GUI based client for linux systems that comes with all the features that windows has.

It is a convenient and easy plain understandable application that enables a Linux PC to a real Windows Remote client.

Ericom Blaze has installers for rpm and deb based systems as well as java based system.

Well done Ericom!

concerning their functions and benefits.

The main categories are “management features”, “core technologies”, “connection interfaces” and “security features”.

This document helps decision makers finding the right product for their businesses.

Here you find the download of the comparison document.

Ericom Blaze

Posted by Stephan Bußjäger on September 26, 2009

Hi Guys out there,

today I took the chance to try out Ericom Blaze and I was surprised how easy it was to install and how simple it worked.

What I did is step by step:

1. I installed the server.msi on a Windows 2003 R2 with terminal services activated

2. I configured my firewall to allow port 3388 (in Blaze you can configure any port you like on which the server listens on) from outside the world to my terminal server.

3. I went home to my Windows 7 pc and installed the Blaze client.msi

4. starting the client means to have a GUI which is nearly the same as this one from Microsoft (mstsc)

5. in order to see the differences you can play around a little bit with the acceleration feature under Ericom Blaze on the first tab.

OK, first I was skeptic…but when I first connected to my terminal server from home to work over a very slow internet connection I was very surprised about how fast you can see complex pictures like Google maps (satellite version) on the remote screen.

After that I can confirm that the video on YouTube is really not a fake.

And of course you can test Ericom Blaze, too. Just click on Ericom.com to get your own test license.
